Description

Program Description

Medical care in developing countries is frequently severely limited due to a lack of knowledge, inadequate funding, and oversubscription.  Hospitals and clinics in these countries are frequently under-resourced and in need of additional assistance. This is the case in Ghana, and we have established close working relationships with a number of hospitals and clinics in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, to provide opportunities for improving the quality and delivery of local healthcare services.

We welcome you, whether you have prior medical experience or not, because you will not be required to perform any work that requires formal medical training. Much of your time will be spent providing assistance to professional medical staff in Ghana. You will most likely spend a significant amount of time shadowing the local staff in their daily activities, learning how they manage and interact with patients. At times, you may be asked to play a more hands-on role in the medical care being provided, if you are capable of doing so.

Please be advised that the daily transportation costs to and from your program are not included and must therefore be paid by yourself throughout the course of your stay. Those costs may range from 2 – 3 Euros per day.
