Program Description

The Philippines is filled with beautiful sceneries, rich culture, and tons of friendly and welcoming people. Interacting with people is one of the most exciting and unique travel experiences in the Philippines, particularly in the small island of Palawan, which is hailed as the most beautiful island in the world for the second time. In fact, Palawan or EL Nido Palawan is more than just crystal-clear waters, stunning lagoons, white sand beaches, rocky islet, towering limestone cliff and grass like waters coupled with various marine species or rainforest.

EL Nido Palawan does not only have natural beauty or rich in natural resources to offer but it is also rich in culture, local dialects, heritage, and traditions. Moreover, Palawan has a very rich diversity due to its vast numbers of culture groups and handicrafts. Thus, it is your great chance to immerse yourself with the rich culture and history of the Philippines particularly, El Nido, Palawan and make life changing travel and inter – cultural experiences.

This week also offers a great opportunity for you to learn and understand more about Palawan culture and to become more familiar with your surroundings in and around Palawan. It is an enriching experience to get to know the way of living and customs and adapt yourself to the local environment. Similarly, throughout the week, you will experience going to the towns’ public market and immerse with local vendors wherein you can buy some souvenir items. In addition, Philippines Language class and cooking class will take place, trips and relaxations to the crystal-clear water and beaches, bonfires, and many more exciting cultural experiences.

Moreover, there are a lot of active outdoor activities in these programs, thus, it is advisable to make sure that you are Medically and Physically Fit to move around, dive and swim as there are island tour hopping activities.

In order to make sure of your  safety and security, you need to keep the following considerations and requirements while taking this spectacular experience and activities.Therefore, you are expected to adhere and follow all the stated rules and regulations set, thus, failure to comply may lead to your termination from the program. Notably, you are expected to adhere to the following

  • Always be on time.
  • Follow all the instructions of your Tour guide and boat operators during the island hopping activities;
  • Be respectful with the local program coordinators, local tour guides boat operators, other participants and to the community in general at all times
  • Be attentive of your personal belongings and valuables as there is no secured locker on the islands and boats;
  • Do not harm underwater world, harming of marine species is strictly prohibited;
  • We encourage you to be more mindful of the marine environment and use environmental friendly sunblocks and sunscreen;
  • Be extra careful as jellyfish season may varies particularly during summer seasons;
  • Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibiteduring your program schedules particularly during the island hopping activities;
  • Alcohol consumption and smoking cannabis is strictly not allowed at the accommodation center.
  • Bring extra cash during your outdoor activities;
  • Bring your container bottled water at all times;
  • If you have medical conditions, just inform us in advance.
  • Enjoy and make the most of your stay and make memorable learning experiences.

In addition, during the island tour hopping, we will provide you with Licensed tourist boat operators, Licensed tourist guides, a life vest and a picnic style lunch.

Finally, this one – long – week acts as a recommended introduction to Palawan and Philippine’s culture but also as the perfect platform for meeting and bonding with fellow participants across the globe and to the community. More so, as you wait for the day to travel again, discover, and explore the wonders and rich culture that awaits you in the most beautiful island in the world, El Nido, from the comfort of your home.   • Facilitate cultural exchange between the participants and local people of El Nido.
  • Give you hands-on insight into the local lifestyle of the El Nido, Palawan community in particular.

Additional Requirements

The following are further necessary in order for both the participants, local staff and everyones involved to have a meaningful, enjoyable and safe experience.

  • Older participants or over 65 years are required to have a medical clearance as proof of their physical fitness as they may perform various activities such as diving and swimming.
  • Participants below 18 years old need a signed parental consent as proof of involvement of their children for the program. If possible, accompaniment by an adult is highly advised.
  • Due to the length and active nature of this program and as there are lots of outdoor activities under the heat of the sun, a decent level of fitness is required.
  • Excellent time management and self – organizing.
  • Strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.
  • Required a COVID – 19 Vaccination. You are also advised to bring with you a  COVID – 19 antigen rapid test as you need to take one test per week.
  • You are advised to purchase travel, medical and Covid – 19  insurance prior to your arrival.
  • Have completed or recommended the following vaccines: Polio, Hepatitis A, Diphtheria/Tetanus, Typhoid, Malaria, Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis.

Personal belongings

  • There is a lot of walking and exploring, so bring with you comfortable trekking or hiking shoes  so you can move comfortably and easily.
  • Bring Personal toiletries such as basic soap, shampoo, toothpaste and towels.
  • Bring also hat, sunglasses to protect from the heat of the sun particularly during the beach day.
  • You may also bring extra toiletries, towels, extra clothes, swimming attire, extra foods during island and beach days.
  • An environmentally friendly sunscreen or lotion is also advised to protect you from the heat of the sun and please carry with you preventive agents during outdoor activities, such as mosquito repellents for insect bites or other insects that may irritate your skin.
  • Moreover, bring Medicines with you especially if you have to take specific medicines on a regular basis as well as other medicines for headaches and stomach aches.
  • Refillable water bottles and hydration packs to stay hydrated throughout the day particularly during exploration and outdoor activities.

Dress Code:

  • The Philippines is a Conservative Country, please wear modest clothing covering knees and shoulders. Loose and long clothing is both respectful and tends to keep you cooler in hot climates. Cover up as much as possible in the spirit of the local culture to avoid embarrassment.
  • Your clothes must not be too short, too tight, or too revealing. Kindly make sure your shoulders and legs are covered.
  • It is completely fine to wear western clothes as long as they fit the local standards.
  • Be thoughtful of the graphics, symbols or text printed on your clothing and avoid wearing clothing styles that might be inappropriate most especially when visiting churches and schools during your spare time.
