Description
Program Description
The teaching staff is frequently overworked and appreciates any assistance that can be provided. Working as a teacher’s assistant or on other projects at school provides invaluable support to the staff and often frees up their time to give the children the one-on-one attention they require.
Your ability to communicate in English will allow you to assist with English lessons, which will provide the children with a valuable skill and boost their confidence. You will also need a lot of creativity during your placement because lessons can be unpredictable and each child’s needs are different.
You should also be prepared to participate in games and other enjoyable activities, which are frequently designed to allow children to express themselves independently. It is also possible that you will be able to participate in manual labor, such as repairing and painting classrooms and school buildings.
It is critical to understand your role, responsibilities, and expectations before beginning your work.
Your role is to:
- Create a nurturing and safe environment in which the children can thrive.
- Engage in imaginative play, storytelling, and creative activities.
- Support the development of social and motor skills through interactive games and exercises.
- Develop a love of learning through age-appropriate educational activities.
- Collaborate with staff to plan and carry out engaging projects.
- Provide individual attention and care to each child, ensuring that their needs are met.
Please be advised that the daily transportation costs to and from your program are not included and must therefore be paid by yourself throughout the course of your stay. Those costs may range from 2 – 8 Euros per day.

Additional Requirements
- In order to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants in the program, certain measures have been put in place, particularly for specific age groups. Those who are older are required to obtain medical clearance, as this acts as a precautionary measure to ascertain their physical ability to partake in potentially strenuous activities. Similarly, participants who are under 18 years old must have a signed parental consent form, as this guarantees that their parents or guardians are aware of their involvement and approve of their participation. Due to the active nature of the program, it is essential for all participants to possess a decent level of fitness since a significant portion of the activities will take place outdoors under the heat of the sun. By adhering to these requirements, the program organizers can maintain an enjoyable and safe environment for everyone involved.
- It is required that you have a yellow fever vaccination and obtain a certificate as proof. You may be asked to produce this certificate at the point of entry into Ghana, and you can be refused entry if you don’t have one.
