Program Description

The Thai Buddhism program offers a profound cultural immersion experience, allowing you to engage in a variety of activities that showcase the rich traditions and religious practices of Thailand. You will have the privilege to assist monks with their daily chores, gaining insight into their way of life and the importance of their spiritual practices. Additionally, you will have the chance to deepen your own spiritual journey through meditation practices.

During this program, you will have the opportunity to visit the temple, where experienced monks will impart their knowledge of Buddhism in English. Your assigned coordinator will be there to assist with any language barriers and provide support throughout your journey.

This program caters to both beginners and those with prior experience. The daily routine at the temple begins early, usually around 05:00, with morning chanting and a short meditation session. Following this, the monks will embark on the tradition of receiving alms, returning to the temple for breakfast around 08:00.

Participants will receive an introduction to Buddhism and Thai meditation, followed by guided meditation practices. They will learn techniques to cultivate mindfulness through breathing and explore various meditation postures such as sitting, walking, and lying down, to discover the most suitable posture for their practice.

Lunchtime is at 11:00, as Buddhist monks typically consume only 1-2 meals per day and refrain from eating after midday. Participants can choose whether to have dinner or not. In the afternoon, there will be another 1-2 hours of meditation practice, followed by free time to continue personal practice or assist with temple chores.

Around 18:00 or 19:00, there will be an evening chanting and meditation session with the monks. After the practice, you will have the opportunity to engage in discussions and ask questions about Buddhism directly to the monks. It’s important to note that the accommodations at the monastery will be simple, with only a mattress, pillow, and blanket provided.

Immerse yourself in the teachings of Buddhism, deepen your understanding of meditation, and embrace the simplicity of life at the temple. This program offers a unique opportunity to experience the tranquility and wisdom of Thai Buddhism firsthand.
