Description

Program Description

We work in over 15 kindergartens in Ubud and its surrounding villages. Moreover, we have our own self-run kindergarten for 4-5 year olds, who can attend it for free. The kids are right at the start of their school careers and the chance to start learning English from such an early age will prove invaluable for them further on.

Like in kindergartens throughout the world, the teaching is informal as the children will want to play with you more than to be ‘taught’. However, simply by getting them enthused about coming to school, giving them some very basic English phrases such as simple greetings, you may well have sown the seeds of a lifelong learning habit.

Correspondingly, set your full energy and patience high as you will engage with children with different learning needs and styles. Thus, your primary tasks include teaching basic English and helping them practice writing in their pads. You can even use other creative and fun ways to help them learn basic tasks through drawing, paintings, arts, songs, dances or games.  If the weather is quite good, some of these activities may take place outside, so children have space to run and play.

Besides teaching, you will also support the teaching staff with the care taking of the children. This task can range from organizing classes, playing games and guiding activities to feeding, cutting nails, combing hair and so on.

Finally, the children will all be excited to see you and exceptionally welcoming, partly due to the natural and genuine friendliness of the Balinese, but also due to the fact that you will be one of the few foreigners they have met! Besides that, you may also have the best time throughout your stay as you will engage in fun, relaxing and recreational activities held after a long day of your program alongside other participants.

Finally, you can not miss every single weekend experiencing nearby scenic views and historic places around Bali, especially its pristine beaches and crystal clear waters. Thus, we will make sure to assist you in organizing your weekend getaways and enjoy every bit of your time.
